Styles in the interior: modern and Scandinavian style

In Austria, the decorative direction of this style still prevails, while in France actively developed constructive Art Nouveau. The Russian version of Art Nouveau was significantly enriched by decorative and applied art of folk crafts.
Features of Art Nouveau style in interior
- The use of flowing lines in interior design is key, while symmetry does not play such an important role. The lines gently merge with each other to form subtle vegetal patterns. Floral motifs, intertwined branches and other artistic elements play an important role in maintaining stylistic purity.
- Stained glass and mosaics, as well as glass elements, are essential in decorating a space. Mosaics can decorate windows, and stained glass elements can decorate partitions.
- Metal decorative elements repeating plant motifs are also welcome in the decor. Wide cornices are typical for curtains installed on window openings, while the fabric should harmoniously fit into the interior without becoming a color accent.
- Instead of traditional paper wallpaper, liquid wallpaper or embossed wall panels are preferred. Buy wall panels to suit all tastes: available here.
- Art Nouveau looks particularly effective in spacious rooms, which can be zoned with partitions or smooth transitions of patterns and shades of floor coverings. A complex multi-level lighting system, including large chandeliers and LED spot lighting on ceilings and walls, visually expands the space.
The Scandinavian style originated in Sweden more than 300 years ago. It combines flirty rococo, classicism and national motifs.
